this carrying case may carry a pretty hefty price but it falls far short of the kind of protection it claims to provide. its a classic marketing ploy. while the front and back has some kind of plastic sheet in it which is reasonably solid the sides are nothing more than thin foam. As a result the sides collapse and the whole thing 'squishes' real easy. As a result this case has absolutely zero compression protection. Its difficult to carry it in my hand because I can feel myself squeezing on the sides of the laptop too hard. I am afraid to put it in my backpack because I am sure the weight of the books will be directly transferred to the rather thin 13.3 inch screen of my laptop inside.
While I can understand that laptop sleeves are not meant to provide compression protection, this thing (with a really high tech looking illustration) claims to provide smart protection to the laptop. In my opinion it falls short of that promise and the laptop is nowhere near safe in it. In my view some of the heftier carrying cases with handles provide better protection because:
a. they have thicker padding
b. seem more resistant to compression having pockets in the front and a more unyielding bulk. (id be far more comfortable dropping a 1000 page book on one of those than on this)
Also ofcourse, this being a 'sleeve' more than a 'case'.... barely has room for the laptop to slide in...anything else...mice, cables, charger, media, DVDs...all have to be carried elsewhere...
